Photography
In this section you will find a selection of photographs that I have taken. The camera never leaves me, but I'd rather describe my camera as my notebook, than say that I'm a photographer. In other words when I see something I take a picture of it and use that as a permanent record of an event. I obviously enjoy recording wildlife images, but also like photographing the night sky, which is always a challenge. Landscapes and the weather also fascinate me.
It's nice to be able to show my own pictures at the many lectures
and public engagements I do; even better when someone asks "How
did you get that?" and I answer "I pushed the button at the top
of the camera!"
Most of the pictures on this page were taken with the Canon EOS 300D camera, the lens collection which consists of Cannon 35-85mm
lens, Sigma 50-500mm zoom lens and a Cannon EF 28-135mm lens. However I have now up graded to the Canon EOS 30D plus enlarged my lens collections to include Canon's 100-400 zoom lens. I also use a Cannon flash gun and all lenses have filters attached; mainly for lens protection.
The Canon EOS 300D has been a hard worker and after having taken countless pictures, many of which have been published, it is still a great camera and will still be used a lot.
It's always nice when people make positive comments
about my pictures, but don't forget I'm not a photographer, I'm just a note-taker. I collect pictures when out in the field, and always try to capture images that show the natural behaviour and habitats of each animal. I enjoy taking pictures but am not into portrait shots of animals in captivity or indeed birds tied to tree's etc - I'd far rather get the real thing!
The pictures that are on the
website are not full size and so you are free to download what you
want, but please give me credit if you use them. If you would like the
full sized versions then please contact me.
Update: After many requests, I'm now taking my first group of DSLR users out watching and photographing UK wildlife, the aim is to get close without disturbing, if your interested in joining up with one of these trips then please e mail me, as I will only do more if they are requested.
All the pictures on this website are copyright to Chris Sperring MBE, however please use them as you see fit, but please quote me as the photographer. More will appear soon.
